Be part of something special…

There are thousands of children out there waiting to share their stories and their faces with the world, we are here to help them. The Littlest Heroes Project is a non-profit based organization made up of photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. Through the power of photography we are banning together to bring to light the beautiful faces and stories of our nations smallest heroes. Because of the wide reach that the Little Heroes Project covers, we are always looking for new photographers to join the team. Taking the time to photograph a hero can be both humbling and rewarding. Photography has given us all a lot, and this is a great way to give back!

If you are a photographer who is willing to donate your time and talent to bring smiles to these deserving families by being a part of this project … Please take time and read the information on this page before you submit the application provided at the bottom. More information will be sent to you if you are accepted, below is just the basic requirements. You can also find more on The Resources Page. Right now we are looking for photographers who will be able to donate their time and talent for Spring and Summer 2010!IMG_0257-crop Click here to see our “BIG” listing.

BASIC PHOTOGRAPHER CRITERIA:

(If you do NOT meet more then one of the criteria descriptions below, your application might not be accepted but do not hesitate to still sign up, we might just need to contact you for more information!)

-You must have at least one year of experience in portrait photography or be very comfortable photographing all ages of children, infant through teenage year.

-We prefer that you have a “pro” status or that you are a serious amature when applying for Littlest Heroes. We want to offer the best photos we can for these special children. By being a professional we know right off the bat that you are able to take care of the family on a professional level which helps maintain our professionalism in front of the families. Anything that you do reflects upon the whole organization.

-You must be 18 or older unless you have a year of photography study behind you and have a way to travel to families participating in the project.

-You must have a working website that shows your portfolio or a blog or flickr page that shows samples of your work. If you do not have a website or blog but meet the other standards we will ask you to create a free flickr.com account to post your Littlest Heroes families to view.

-You must be comfortable talking with, and photographing the children in the hospital setting, home setting, or on location setting. If you do not feel like you could emotionally handle photographing an ill child then please do not sign up at this time.

-YOU MUST BE IN GOOD HEALTH. This means you must not have any recurring illnesses that might put the children’s health in danger at any time during the photography process. Any past serious illnesses that might endanger the children would be HIV or AIDS. If you encounter a cold or mild illness before a photo session you MUST let the family know, and work out how you will proceed with your session when you are again in good health.

-Please do NOT sign up to be a photographer if you are currently pregnant or have a personal issue that might get in the way with your dedication and time needed to be a participating photographer. We have too many people applying and then leaving the team, and for us that is just too hard to manage and take care of with over 300 photographers currently on our photography team. Only sign up if you know you are able to participate when needed.

As of March 9th 2010, we are no longer accepting applications for new participating photographers. We are taking some time to get our current team all settled in! We will be opening up applications again in May, so please check back!
